Hazy series 2017
This acrylic series is composed of three elements. The first are the chromatic compositions. This play of colors creates different universes where color itself is the expression of feeling and the guiding principle in understanding of the work. From this, each color defines emotions, feelings and movement, which are intensified by the second elements, the haze. The haze plays an essential role in creating fluid images and temporalities. At the same time it allows by play and by contrast, with more significant symbols, a diffuse sensation of movement and depth. This represents a snapshot where the image is taken on the fly from a parallel reality. The third element is the physical structure, the frame. This is important in this series and, in a way throughout my entire artistic work. The frames are advertising panels ( for brands like Nestlé, Danone…) found in the street’s garbage. They are composed of aluminum and plastic face where the advertising was printed. The interest in this kind of frame is the reuse literally and figuratively. From one part, the fact to have found them on the street is an important things which englobes my entire art work. From another perspective, these advertising panels partially or completely painted contribute to the speech of this series. The painted image overlying the advertising defines a message, the wish of reappropriation of the advertising space by the diversion. These three elements together contribute to the interpretation of this series. The images are the expressions of internal or external conflicts mixed with a past, a present or a future living, dreaming or imagining. This work refers also to the art works of Gerhard Richter, Francis Bacon and William Turner.
