Canvas series 2016

Al Otro Lado del Espejo and Chromatic Resonance, the art works of this series which are opposite in their aesthetics. Aside from their differences, a dialogue is created between both and are linked by a message. Al Otro Lado del Espejo is composed of different layers which creates the impression of depth. The upper layer, in opposition to the under layer, is the quiet zone, the one that envelops and softens the piece and brings, at the same time, its mysterious and somewhat dark character. Although disturbing in some ways, it also represents serenity and balance. The base layer is much more turbulent and chaotic. It defines the passion, the torment and the loss of balance. This mix creates a union, reflecting the emotion spectrum. The invisible face; the one that is on the other side of the mirror, the one of the intimate. It shows the one that we do not see, that we conceal like fragility and doubt. Chromatic Resonance can be interpreted as a chromatic play. It is also a representation split up, and codified in an emotion scale. The framework is the composition which creates a visual rhythm where the dark lines return constantly like a chorus. This rhythmical set of the lines and the colors together, creates a visual score similar to the mechanization of a barrel organ. This score, in this case, is not playing automatically, but it is the representation of a mood, a sequence extract from an emotional flow. The cohesion between both art works, is the internal exploration of an emotional and perception spectrum, reflecting, each one in its own way, a hidden aspect of the personality. This series is the pictorial result of introspection, allowing a glimpse of the internal. This appearance which is too much valorized and highlighted through the communication, the advertising, the professional and personal relationship, suggests : the cracks and the embarrassments of a society based on the performance and the perfection, where the appearance takes priority over the being.
